Food is a love language to most, and the same goes for us. Although we have been trying our best to cut down on eating out, weekend family brunch has become almost a tradition! These last 3 years with our newest little family member have changed our eating patterns A LOT. We can no longer randomly walk into any establishment of our choosing. Most NYC restaurants are extremely tiny with no highchairs or stroller parking, done mostly to deter families with fussy little ones. I understand I wouldn’t want my date to be disturbed by a toddler tantrum either!
Here are some family-friendly places that not only simply accommodate children, but do it with open arms, crayons, and kiddie placemats! Happy eats and may your brunch be a good one with no food flung across the room!
- ABC KITCHEN Great ambiance, located inside of THE most amazing houseware complex ABC Carpet and Home. Mamas, if you find yourself dining here, make sure you check out the Houseware section located a few steps above the restaurant level. Thank me later.
- Sarabeth’s Oh Sarabeth oh Sarabeth. A little corner of home inside the concrete jungle. Laid back, cozy, large tables and booths. Expect to find a lot of other toddlers and babies because this place is a hit with parents! I always order the goat cheese omelet, if you like goat cheese, you’ll really like it.
- Friend of a Farmer Get here on time, this East Village staple is super family-friendly but the lines can sometimes be long. I have had the best apple pancakes here (from the kid’s menu!) Laid back and cozy, you can find parents and couples alike, enjoying farm to table goodness.
- Good Enough to Eat Located in the Upper West Side, this place has a lot of seating for families and couples alike! They have a great kids menu with all the staples for a full belly. This place gets full FAST, come on time and come hungry!
- Tavern on the Green This is more than just any old brunch spot, this is one of the most historic and iconic restaurants in NYC! Located in the heart of Central Park means longer than usual wait times, but all SO worth it. We’ve only been here once but it was truly a remarkable experience and we can’t wait to go back.
- Kefi This Greek restaurant has a ton of seating, a beautiful setup and they provide high chairs and activities for the kids! Their brunch menu is fusion greek + classic American brunch all in one!
- Sanfords This place is open 24/7! AMAZING! Great menu, nice atmosphere (definitely not just a diner). This place has something for everyone, not only for brunch but for any time of day, literally!
- Eastfields This place might not seem kid-friendly at first, but if you ask for a highchair, they will bring you one! Casual atmosphere and although it does not have a kid menu, there are tons of choices you and your babies can share such as pancakes, french toast and more!
- Loring Place Chic, trendy and kid-friendly! What else do you really need? Lots of great choices for kids and adults!
- Juniors Restaurant In the heart of Times Square, this Brooklyn classic is insanely popular! You’ll spot some tourists and a lot of families due to its prime location. Along with their iconic cheesecake, the food is also just as good!
