No one prepared for me for the amount of stress I’d undertake when selecting the right “WHITE PAINT” for our new home. There is so much involved in selecting the correct color for your space, a few things to consider are
- How high are the ceilings
- How much natural sunlight does your home get
- Are your main rooms north facing, south facing, east facing, or west facing
- What is your desired goal for your space? Do you want a soothing yellow-white, a bright white, or a grey/blue-white?
Are you overwhelmed yet? SHEESH.
I’ve spent the last two weeks researching white paint, asking friends, family, and YOU all for opinions. Based upon my findings, below is a list of some highly popular paint colors by category.
TOP BRIGHT WHITES
This is a true white without any cool or warm undertones. It is fresh and crisp true white.
This is an extremely popular color among decorators and our friends, and family. This is a true white with slight blue undertones. Works very well in rooms without a ton of natural light. This is what we decided on for our new place.
This is a cool white with gray undertones. It’s clean, bright but less bright than most pure whites. To me, this is a great entry-level pure white when you’re unsure if a pure white is for you.. it meets you halfway!
TOP WARM WHITES
This is a clean and ultra-modern soft white. It’s easy on the eyes, gives a soothing effect to any space, and doesn’t overpower you with yellow undertones.
This is a soft and warm white and works really well in bright spaces by adding a bit of warmth without making the space appear yellow or dingy. This is a very versatile and safe color if you are hesitant about going to warm or too white.
This was highly recommended by decorators for anyone trying to achieve an old-world warm look and feel to a new space. This is the perfect mix between cream and taupe. A very charming and cozy color.
TOP NEUTRAL WHITES
Not too creamy, not too white, this is a very in-between neutral white pain that’s a perfect backdrop to any space. Clean, versatile, and decorator’s favorite.
a warm neutral that is soft on the eyes, remains versatile without picking up too many undertones and is great to create a cozy inviting space.
a classic white that is soft and true to color. Works well in any room by making it appear brighter and larger, without looking too stark and sterile.
